  Clean and modern airport but hopeless with immigration security with queues taking over 30 minutes - very long for an airport this size. They should consider scheduling their flights better (did two arrive at similar times?) or employing more staff. Aside from that though, the car rental employee was excellent and the staff were very helpful throughout. The airport is also a stylish building, but quite a long drive away from Bilbao itself, not because of the distance but seemingly because of the road layout. There is a petrol/gas station 200m from the airport if you need to drop off your rented car (easy to find the drop off location too and the car parks have number plate recognition).

  One star because this is minimum I can give. Reason is very simple: there is no smoking aquarium for smokers. I am paying for airport services so I am expecting full service and in this question. Also I want to encourage all other smokers to start giving minimum or negative review for all airports which are making us crazy during waiting times without cigarette.

  One of the most beautiful airports I have been. Very small and practical for the travellers. Calatrava's design is graceful. The repetition of the lines and the arches create an amazing atmosphere. I love it.

  Airport opens at 5am, so if you happen to have an early flight be careful with your timing or you'll find yourself waiting outside on the cold/rain (-2 stars). If they ask you to be 2 hours before departure at least they should open it 2 hours before the first plane!. Also airlines should consider that employees schedule starts a bit before than 5, when we entered they still had to get everything ready. We finally made it by 5:30 and were the first one in line. Security was fast and easy. Another 'anomaly' is the fact that there is only one stand to check tickets at the gates, so it takes forever!! Small airport, workable and I guess more user friendly during 'normal' hours

  It's a smaller airport, not a young one. It has an orderly fashion. Security check is arranged well. You have enought space on tables to prepare your check, but there is no continuous conveyor belt. You need to move your stuffs from the desk to a tray. The security check is quick, efficient. You can find some power sockets at the waiting area. Car rental is well organized at the airport.
